A Career After the Career: Support in Building Financial Skills

Many domestic and international studies show that Slovenia faces numerous challenges in the area of financial literacy. To address this issue, the Triglav Group, under its sustainable initiative Let’s Secure the Future, empowers promising young individuals and other partners, athletes and sports federations with whom it cooperates.

At the opening event A Career After the Career at Brdo pri Kranju in May this year, key topics from the fields of finance, taxation, and sports marketing were addressed. Now, Triglav is organizing workshops across Slovenia to strengthen financial skills. Together with experts from the Group, they recently hosted an event at the Triglav Lab research center, attended by more than 50 athletes, coaches, and representatives of associations and clubs. The event shed light on some of the most important issues in financial literacy and presented practical solutions. Similar financial literacy workshops are also planned for the future.

45 Minutes with Nejc Vidmar: A New Perspective on Life After Sports

45 Minutes with Nejc Vidmar” is a talk show on Arena Sport TV that offers an intimate look at how top athletes navigate the challenges of ending their professional careers. The show made its premiere at the SPORTO conference, where it was also recorded live. Former footballer and current Arena Sport collaborator Nejc Vidmar hosted the charismatic Filip Flisar at SPORTO, delving into the challenges and opportunities he faced after retiring from sports. They discussed rebuilding identity, discovering new passions, and pursuing personal projects.

The new show will air on Arena Sport starting November 28, with fresh episodes released every two weeks. Guests such as Goran Dragić, Jure Košir, Dejan Zavec, and Jani Brajkovič have already shared their stories in front of the camera.

The program is part of a larger initiative launching next year: Slovenia’s first academy for retired athletes, offering comprehensive support for this critical life transition.
